Our Vision

Our vision is to fully embrace a ‘community care’ model. This is a collaborative approach with the goal of providing accessible and safe veterinary care for all pet-families.

Community care focuses on providing a spectrum of care approach, mitigating barriers to accessing veterinary care and bringing a variety of care options to as many pet-families as possible, despite their financial or personal circumstances.

Our Values

  • Empathy
  • Willingness to learn
  • Open-mindedness
  • Optimism, hopefulness
  • Appreciation for the human-animal bond

Dr. Chloe Roberts (she/her)

Veterinarian/Owner

Dr. Chloe is the founder and owner of Fireweed Veterinary Hospital. Her goal is to create a community-centred space where pet families and veterinary staff feel comfortable coming together to care for the pets we all love so deeply.

In addition to accessible veterinary care, her professional passions lie in preventative and senior pet care. She loves to be in the quiet of the surgery suite focusing on soft-tissue and dental surgery.

When she is not at work, Dr. Chloe lives in Esquimalt with her partner, dog, and two cats. She loves spending time by the ocean, developing her green thumb in the garden, and wandering to local coffee shops for a vanilla latte and a sweet treat.

Dani Anderson (she/her)

Founding Client Care Lead

Dani discovered her passion for veterinary medicine through her work with the free downtown clinic, Vets for Pets Victoria, where she developed a strong appreciation for accessible and affordable veterinary care. She is passionate about supporting her community through initiatives like bottle drives and advocacy for low-cost veterinary services.

Outside of the clinic, she can usually be found hiking with her dog, wandering local beaches in search of shells, or confidently defeating her fiancé at Mario Kart. She is currently working toward her Royal Canin Nutritionist Certification to further expand her knowledge in animal health and nutrition.

Jolene Kosh, RVT (she/her)

Lead Registered Veterinary Technician

With over 20 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Jolene began her career in Ontario before moving west in 2008, where she fell in love with the mountains and ocean air.

She is passionate about building trusting relationships with both her patients and the people who love them.

When she’s not handing out dog cookies or finding the perfect scratch spot for a cat, you’ll likely find her officiating roller derby, crafting, or camping with her family.

Natalia da Costa (she/her)

Family Care Specialist

Natalia’s journey into animal welfare was sparked by a deep fascination with animal behaviour and reactivity. Over the years she has built a wealth of experience working with reactive dogs and their guardians, understanding firsthand how isolating and overwhelming that experience can be, becoming a trusted resource for families who couldn’t find support through traditional services. That work has gone hand in hand with her involvement in rescue, both of which are deeply important parts of her life, and are complemented by academic research into barriers to accessing care, all of which shapes the empathy she brings to every pet family she works with.

Outside of the clinic, Natalia is a portrait artist with a soft spot for painting animals, and a firm believer that a good nap with her dog Amigo and her cat Earl coupled with an episode of Love Island is a perfectly valid way to spend an afternoon.

Jolan Szabo (she/her)

Patient Care Specialist

Jolan has been working as a veterinary assistant for several years and is currently completing a distance veterinary technology program. She has always loved animals but fostering cats is what helped her discover her love for animal care. She is interested in animal behaviour and low stress, accessible veterinary care.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her partner and her two cats, reading, and exploring nature.

Brenn Clark, MSc (she/her)

Master of Social Work Practicum Student

With 13 years of experience in animal care settings, Brenn is passionately committed to advancing animal and human well-being through the approaches of One Health and Veterinary Social Work.

Having studied animal health, One Health, and Social Work, she is now merging these perspectives to better support the emotional and mental health needs of animal caregivers. Her vision is to help create more sustainable, supportive workplaces for professionals and increase access to resources for animal guardians.

When not supporting clients and the clinic team, you can find Brenn supporting animal caregivers through Compassionate Creatures, practicing as a life-long learner, building community, spending time with loved ones (human and non-human), enjoying a silly comedy, and feeling the chill of the ocean air. If you see her in the wild, she always welcomes a chat.
